We provide useful information about critical infrastructures throughout the World. Information stored here is considered ‘open source’ and does NOT constitute any information that is either classified or withheld from public viewing. This section includes both documentation found throughout the Internet, whitepapers produced by both Infracritical and its affiliates, and useful web site links, both educational and regulatory in nature.

Numerous officials within the public and private sectors of the United States have been actively promoting and applying critical infrastructure protection (CIP). Yet it was not too long ago that most citizens never heard of such words. So why is there now so much attention being given to CIP?

WHAT IS ‘CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION’ (CIP)?
Generally, the definition of “critical infrastructure protection” (CIP) consists of the proactive activities to protect indispensable people, physical assets, and communication/cyber systems from all hazards. More formally, it is an analytical process to guide the systematic protection of critical infrastructures by the application of a reliable decision sequence that assists leaders to determine exactly what needs protection and when security measures must occur. As a time-efficient and resource-restrained practice, the process ensures the protection of only those infrastructures upon which survivability and mission success actually depend. The process involves the following steps: identifying the organization’s critical infrastructures, determining the threats against those infrastructures, analyzing the vulnerabilities of threatened infrastructures, assessing the risks of degradation or loss of a critical infrastructure, and applying countermeasures where risk is unacceptable. // MORE

ANALYTICAL MODEL OF ‘CIP’
The CIP process is an analytical model or template to guide the systematic protection of critical infrastructures. Community leaders including those of emergency response organizations have the responsibility to determine which infrastructures must be protected from attacks by people, nature, or hazardous materials accidents. // MORE

REVISED ‘CIP’ FRAMEWORK MODEL
Infracritical foresees the need for a common criteria framework model that may be used at all operational levels within the organization (strategic, operational and tactical) and may be utilized more easily, while remain readily applied at all operational branches (and their divisions). // MORE

‘CIP’ SECTORS WORLDWIDE
Infracritical foresees the need for a common, standardized understanding of the sectors identified worldwide, not just within the United States. // MORE

ELEMENT: AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
Infracritical’s top priority and goal is to provide education and training awareness programs for both public and private sectors, as well as for the general public. Information, its availability, and its dissemination, are vital in securing our Nation’s infrastructures. People need to understand and comprehend their organization’s security policies, procedures, and practices. // MORE

ELEMENT: REGULATION AND LEGISLATION
Infracritical wants to provide and ensure for a better tomorrow through safeguarding methods of our Nation’s infrastructure, but without duplicate, impractical or conflicting effects that could negate any efforts in protecting our Nation’s infrastructures. // MORE

ELEMENT: IMPROVED MANAGEMENT
Infracritical is committed towards the realized goal of securing our Nation’s infrastructures through the proper alignment of education, training and awareness, regulatory creation and intervention, policy and management. // MORE
